Acceptable use policy

Synthetic speech can be used to deceive people. These rules exist so that natiq.studio is not the tool that does it. They apply to the Studio and to the API, and they form part of the terms of service.

1. Consent and identity

Do not use the service to make anyone sound like they said something they did not say.

1. Identity and security

• Do not generate speech presented as a real person, living or dead, without that person's written consent.
• Do not imitate a public figure, an official, a journalist or a company representative in a way that a listener could take as genuine.
• Do not use generated audio to pass identity checks, whether a voice login, a bank verification, or an employer's screening.

Clearly labelled parody and commentary are allowed where the law of Algeria allows them, provided no listener would think the recording is authentic.

2. Fraud and deception

• No phone scams, fake emergency calls, or messages that pretend to come from a bank, a government office, or a delivery company.
• No audio that supports phishing, investment fraud, or the sale of counterfeit goods.
• No political messaging that misrepresents who is speaking or who paid for it.

3. Harm to people

• No harassment, threats, or content that targets someone with abuse.
• No incitement to violence, to terrorism, or to hatred against a group based on religion, ethnicity, region, gender, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
• No sexual content involving minors, in any form, and no sexual content that depicts a real person without consent.
• No content that promotes self-harm or gives instructions for harming others.

4. Rights of others

• Do not submit text you have no right to use.
• Do not reproduce copyrighted work as audio without the rights holder's permission.
• Do not extract, redistribute, or resell the reference voice recordings, and do not use the output to train a competing speech model.

5. Technical limits

• Respect the published rate limits. Do not spread one workload across several accounts or keys to get around them.
• Do not open extra accounts to collect the free token grant more than once.
• Do not probe, scan, or try to break the service, and do not attempt to reach another account's data.
• Do not put an API key in browser code or a mobile app where a third party can read and spend it.

6. Labelling generated audio

Where the audio could reasonably be mistaken for a recording of a real person, tell your audience it is synthetic. Some jurisdictions and some platforms require this. It is good practice everywhere.

7. What happens if you break these rules

Depending on what happened, we may warn you, remove the content, suspend the account, revoke the API keys, or close the account. Serious cases, including fraud and content involving minors, are reported to the authorities. Tokens are not refunded when an account is closed for abuse.

8. Reporting abuse

If you believe audio generated here has been used against you or someone else, write to support@natiq.studio with the audio or a link to it, and the date if you know it. We investigate every report.
